The Carnival Triumph cruise suffered a fire in the engine room this past Sunday disabling the ship's propulsion systems and power. It is unclear why there are no backup generators. The 3300 passengers are suffering with no air conditioning, limited food and only five working toilets. Reports from passengers aboard described sewage in the halls, seeking through the walls and an unparalleled stench. The Coast Guard is towing the crippled ship to Mobile, AL but isn't expected to arrive until Thursday. Until then, the passengers and crew will endure suffocating heat, sewage, and long lines for onion sandwiches. Carnival promises everyone on board is safe and sound. They expect to refund the fare and give vouchers for additional cruise.
